Mathematical modeling and real-time experimental methods are revolutionizing biology by connecting molecular mechanisms to behavior. Computational models can now track molecular events within single cells and their interactions with the environment and each other. Dynamical modeling allows biologists to test hypotheses before conducting experiments, while machine learning helps build models from data. Several MCDB faculty use this iterative process to refine biological questions, focus experiments, and enhance model accuracy. A close integration of modeling and experimentation is essential for uncovering complex biological systems and advancing our understanding at a fundamental level.
Postdoctoral Opportunities
Prospective postdocs should contact individual faculty members about open positions. Visit the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs for more information.
Meet our Faculty
Many of our Faculty have vibrant research labs where life changing research happens. Both graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to work with their professors in meaningful award winning research. You’ll find the labs within the faculty members individual profiles.
