Benoit Mermaz, Ph.D.

Associate Research Scientist in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology

Benoît joined Yale in 2019 and is currently an Associate Research Scientist in the lab of Prof. Vivian Irish. His current research aims to Combat the Citrus Greening, a bacterial disease affecting Citrus trees using Gene Editing. He is also the Co-Chair of the Yale Postdoctoral Association where he collaborates with many Postdoc volunteers to promote the Yale Postdoc community.

Before joining Yale University, Benoît received a BSc and a Master’s degree in Plant Sciences from Université de Montpellier 2 in France and a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from Imperial College London in the UK.

Outside of work, Benoît enjoys spending time with family, baking, and caring for his many house plants.”
