Bahmanyar Lab Develops New Strategy to Investigate Properties of the Inner Nuclear Membrane

Shoken Lee from the Bahmanyar Lab, together with collaborators, has published a new study in Nature Communications. The research developed a new strategy to investigate the properties of the inner nuclear membrane, a cellular membrane that cannot be readily isolated and studied using traditional biochemical approaches. Using membrane-sensing protein motifs as probes in living cells, they found that the ability to detect lipid packing defects is a key feature that promotes association with the nuclear membrane.
