Lily Sparrow Mirfakhraie of Davenport College is a fiercely proud West Virginian and Head First Year Counselor in Davenport College. Balancing a double major in the History of Science, Medicine and Public Health and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in her senior year and graduates summa cum laude, with distinction in both her majors, after completing 37 course credits, 35 of which are straight A. Even as a first-year student, Lily’s instructors commented on her “unusual sensitivity in dealing with challenging material.” She brought that same sensitivity to bear on her senior essay which explores the history of coal company physicians in Central Appalachia.

Lily is the recipient of the Y-Work Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions as an undergraduate employee. She also served as a Foote leader, Community Health Educator, and member of the Yale Irish Dance Club. She plans to attend medical school after graduation.

In recognition of her extraordinary achievements, Yale College is proud to award the Warren Memorial High Scholarship Prize this year to Lily Sparrow Mirfakhraie.
