FACS Aria III sorter

The FACS Aria III sorter has 5 lasers, UV 355nm, V 405nm, B 488nm, and R 635nm.  It can detect 18 colors. 

Availability: The sorter is available during the following hours (excluding University holidays):
Monday 9am-5pm; Tuesday 9am-7pm; Wednesday 9am-5pm; Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4pm.

After hours booking is also available for sorting without a technician.

FY24 Fees:

Assisted cytometry $127 per hour 
Yale self sort $85 per hour
Analysis $47 per hour

Conditions of use:

All samples must be filtered through 35-40um mesh filters immediately before sorting to help prevent blockages. Researchers will be charged for the time taken to clear blockages, and subject to subsequent bookings, the availability of your sorting time may be reduced. For advice on how to prepare clump-prone cells, please contact Kenneth Nelson.

Minimum booking is 1 hour after which users will be charged in 30-minute increments. Users will be charged based on the time booked or time used, whichever is longer. The manager reserves the right to alter online bookings post-sort to reflect the time used (if longer than that booked).

The Facility manager reserves the right to change booking times dependent on the machine’s availability, but will give researchers as much notice as possible.


FACS Calibur Analysis

The FACS Calibur analyzer is available for researchers to DIY 24 hours per day including weekends following training and reaching a high level of competence.
 
For training and assisted usage please email Kenneth Nelson. Minimum booking is 30 minutes, followed by 15 minute increments thereafter. Bookings are essential.
 
Conditions of use:
All samples must be filtered through 40-70um mesh filters immediately before sorting to help prevent blockages.
 
For clumping cells due to a lot of cell damage/ death, add up to 20-100ug/ml DNAse to your sample prep. For generally sticky cells, add 1-2mM (final) EDTA to your suspension buffer.   Click here for more information.
 

Fees: $0

** Flow staff assisted analysis will incur the sorting fee rate and will also need to be booked in the ARIA sorter calendar.

BD FACS LSR Fortessa X20:

The Fortessa has 4 lasers, V 405nm, B 488nm, and R 635nm.  It can detect 16 colors.
