October 2017

When you skim through the latest table of contents for Nature or Science, do you find yourself sidetracked into reading about molecular origami, or ape fossils, or biofilms? What captures your wandering eye can probably tell you a lot about what captures your passions. In writing this piece, I have been waylaid into reading about antique maps, small molecule inhibitors, and the Perseid meteor showers. Maybe none of this will help me immediately in my day to day work, but perhaps one day, a smattering of what I have read will help me think about a vexing question in a new way.  And even if not, it still reminds me of why I became a scientist in the first place!
